Blue Team

The Blue team competes in the Intermediate All-Girl Division IA at NCA College Nationals. Our routine is composed of elite stunting and tumbling skills, similar to all-star cheerleading. However, we also perform a collegiate style cheer during NCA Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. Although we are a competitive club sports team at the University of Florida, we have the honor of competing against many other top Division I cheerleading programs across the nation. 


The experience on Blue is very similar to a typical competitive cheerleading program, as we practice about three times per week and have around 4 performances per year. Practices are held on the basketball courts of Student Recreation & Fitness, the on-campus gym facility that is accessible to all fee-paying students. 


There are no specific requirements to make the Blue team, however, the team is composed of the top 20 athletes. In the NCA Intermediate Division, we compete skills ranging from the typical all-star level 3 to level 6 skills.  We recognize that some athletes may be stronger in one aspect of cheer rather than another, and take this into consideration when selecting the team!

Blue Recommended Skills

 

Standing Tumbling

  • Multiple Standing Handsprings
  • Jumps to Multiple Handsprings
  • Cartwheel Tuck (standing tucks are not permitted in competition but are a great foundation)

 

Running Tumbling

  • Roundoff Tuck/Layout
  • Roundoff Handspring Tuck/Layout
  • Specialty through to Tuck/Layout (front walkover, handspring step-out, layout step-out, whip, etc.) 

 

Stunting

  • Switch Up
  • 3/4 Spinning Switch Up 
  • Low to High
  • High to High
  • Traditional Grip Full Up 
  • Full Around (prep to extension)
  • Pop Off
  • Single Leg Full Down (from all body positions)
  • Straight Up/Switch Up Two Man
  • Two Man Single Leg Full Down
  • Kick Double Basket Toss 

Body Positions (Flyers Only)

  • Liberty (both sides)
  • Heel Stretch (both sides preferred) 
  • Front Stretch 
  • Bow & Arrow
  • Arabesque 
  • Scale

Jumps, Dance, Cheer, and Motions

  • Single Jumps with Great Technique (Clap with Elbows Together, Hips Rotated, Toes Pointed, etc.)
  • Double Toe Touch
  • Triple Jump Combination (Hurdler, Toe Touch, Pike; Hurdler, Double Toe Touch)
  • Dance and Motions: Sharp, Clean, Precise, Smile & Confidence
  • Cheer: Sharp, Clean, Smile, Presence & Projection
