Orange Team

 The Orange team competes in the CO-ED Spirit Rally Division IA at NCA College Nationals. Their routine is composed of game day level stunting and tumbling skills.  The Orange team practices twice per week and has around 4 performances per year.  Although we are a competitive club sports team at the University of Florida, we have the honor of competing against many other top Division I cheerleading programs across the nation 


Orange usually practices on Sunday evenings throughout the fall semester at Student Recreation & Fitness. As competition season approaches, an additional practice date is added. While the commitment required for this team is less intense, our athletes put in hard work and dedication to prepare their routines for competition.


There are no specific skill requirements to make the Orange team, however, they compete at levels equivalent to all-star cheer level 3 to level 6. The team is composed of 30 athletes and additonal alternates. Tumbling is not necessary for Orange, but prior cheer experience is highly recommended!

Orange Recommended Skills

 

Cheer and Dance Skills

  • Strong, sharp, precise, motions in dance and cheer.
  • Ability to engage the crowd and encourage participation
  • Ability to project voice with sharp enunciation and to spontaneously interject cues 
  • Strong and effective sign work and ability to use megaphone properly

Stunt Skills

  • All spinning skills- full ups, 1/2 ups and full arounds, high high, coed
  • Toss to extension and toss to single leg
  • Coed skills including chair sits, walk-in and toss
  • Two mans, shoulder stands and pop shoulder sits
  • Pop offs, spinning pop offs, rewinds
  • Flyers-ability to execute libs and stretches on both legs

Jumps and Tumbling

  • Toe touch
  • Double toe touch
  • Pike
  • Hurdler on each leg
  • Jump to Back handspring 
  • Back handspring
  • Tuck 
  • Running tumbling a plus but not required
